🏗️ Under the Hood
- Migrated from Airtable to a self-hosted PostgreSQL database. Faster, cheaper, more flexible, and ours to own
- Switched the AI powering Gillbert from OpenAI to Claude Sonnet 4.6 (Anthropic)
- All API workflows rebuilt and running on a self-hosted n8n instance on a Raspberry Pi
- Photos and videos stored in Azure Blob Storage with secure, time-limited access links
- App secured behind Cloudflare Zero Trust, only invited anglers can get in
💬 Chat with Gillbert
- Replaced the raw n8n chat interface with a custom-built and styled Catch Chat window
- Ask Gillbert introduced. A separate AI chat to ask any question about the full catch history
- Gillbert knows the entire record book and can give thoughtful, personalized answers
- Catch numbers in chat responses are clickable links straight to the catch details
🏆 Fish of Fame
- Leaderboard showing the biggest catches of all time, ranked by length
- Per-species records and the record holder for every fish species in the books
- Top Anglers ranking by total catch count and biggest fish
✏️ Catch Management
- Edit any catch after it's been logged. Fix a length, update the date, edit the notes, etc.
- Manual catch logging form as an alternative to chatting with Gillbert
- Admin catch verification. Mark catches as officially reviewed and verified
👤 Who Did What
- Catches and uploaded media now remember who logged and who uploaded them
- See who created and last updated a catch, right on its details page
- Anglers can edit their own catches (or ones they logged) without needing the admin PIN, until it's verified
📸 Media Improvements
- Apple HEIC photos and MOV videos are automatically converted on upload for universal viewing
- Admin "Manage Media" mode to delete individual photos or videos from a catch
- Photo and video counts update instantly after each deletion
🔍 Browse & Discover
- Filter catches by angler, fish species, and body of water. Mix and match
- Active filters and search terms are remembered when navigating between pages
- Friendly "no results" message when a search comes up empty, no more blank cards
🔒 Admin Mode
- Admin mode hidden in plain sight
- All destructive actions (deleting, editing, verifying) are gated behind admin mode
